Here is Constellation. I made it after finishing the still untitled work in progress. I will show you the untitled piece when I have an image of it I am satisfied with.

May and some June too

The full catalog of my current solo show at the Sonoma Coffee Cafe can be found here. The show will be up until June's end. If you're in the area, grab a coffee and have a looksee!

I am participating in Pro Arts East Bay Open Studios, which takes place on the first two weekends of June. Come by and see my studio. I will have an array of my best works from the past two years on display, and I will have a brand new shirt design available for sale. I will post visualization of the new shirt in the next few days.

The East Bay Open Studios open hours are June 5-6 and 12-13, from 11a-6p. I am map #149.

Treasures of February

February was very good to me!

While I finished the spiral that I teased about earlier, I won't be showing it off until it is in the hands of its commissioner next week. In the meantime, I present two pieces I made in between my spiral sessions.

Waiting for the Bus (pictured,) the first entry in my new travelsize sketchbook.

Fling, a somewhat retroscopic piece I made when I hit a block in the spiral.

Check back soon for the completed spiral!

From the ashes of Fucking...

...comes Painted Stick. It turns out that the piece I declared as dead in an earlier entry was only "comic book" dead.

While it was in my backpack on a rainy day, it got a little smudged - enough so to discourage me, but not enough to encourage some friends to coax me into continuing right along.

But the original idea that was Fucking is indeed dead and gone. This new incarnation from the husk is slightly different in intent, smaller in size, and vaguely alien in form.

Dr. Seuss and The Modernists

The Gem Mine is not only completed, I have also conceived of a companion piece to accompany it to its exhibition. As the Mine is a piece in homage to the great Dr. Seuss and an homage to his painting, Minor-Cat Miner in a High Yield Emerald Mine, Minor Cat Miner zooms in on my Gem Mine and reveals that deep within, Seuss' kitten is hard at work.

Both of these Seussian pieces are available in the upcoming Expressions Gallery show, The Modernists. Come have an in-person looksee at the show's grand opening on Saturday February 13th, from 6-8p. If you can't make it to the opening, the show will be up until April 2nd.

Revealing Itself To Itself

Here is a doodle that I created on Christmas Day while waiting in line for Saul's.

Coming Into Focus 7-9

Today I sat down by Lake Merritt, listened to the birds and npr, and said to myself, "No more dawdling on this ninth piece. Let's get it done."

So I got it done.

So now that I finished it, I can show the third triptych of my Coming Into Focus series.

Here are my portfolio links to all three:
